    Strategies to Counter Terrorism

Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Greece, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland

Global Ties Detroit will be welcoming 10 delegates from Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Greece, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland participating in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Strategies to Counter Terrorism. The objective of this program is for delegates to be introduced to U.S. programs that counter terrorism and violent extremism, including those that exemplify the relationship between federal, state, and local entities. During their stay these fellows will be exploring the underlying conditions that fuel terrorism, extremism, and the emerging trends that creatively address them. They also will be examining community-based efforts designed to build strong community resistance to terrorism, including community policing and prison rehabilitation programs, while also discussing how different sectors of American society work together to resist extremism that leads to violence.
