The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a Fulbright exchange that brings accomplished mid-career professionals from developing countries to the United States for a year of academic study, professional development, and networking. Established in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter, the program honors the legacy of Senator and Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey and his lifelong commitment to human rights and international cooperation. Since its inception, more than 6,600 professionals from over 163 countries have participated, with approximately 150 fellowships awarded annually. This coming March, Global Ties Detroit is excited to host approximately 30 Humphrey Fellows from across the country to Detroit and Ann Arbor for a four-day Program Enhancement Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Digital Policy. Fellows will engage with experts through interactive discussions and hands-on learning across sectors such as artificial intelligence, energy, entrepreneurship, mobility, and digital innovation, and will collaborate with local experts to develop actionable strategies and concrete solutions for challenges in their home communities.
