Genevieve Nowak is a graduate of Wayne State University where she received her Master's degree in Social Work with a concentration in organizational leadership. She has dedicated her career to non-profit work in the city of Detroit. Her experience ranges from developing programs serving homeless women and children in Detroit to managing in-kind contributions for world-class cultural institutions, to teaching diversity and inclusion to graduate students at Wayne State University.
As Director of Environmental Initiatives and Affairs for the Belle Isle Conservancy, Genevieve designs and oversees environmental conservation efforts for the 982-acre island-park in Detroit, Michigan. Her creation of the Keep Belle Isle Beautiful campaign has educated thousands on the dangers of plastics and microplastics while preventing and removing tens of thousands of pounds of litter from reaching the Great Lakes. Through her work, she engages the community and mobilizes volunteers to act locally, by removing plastic pollution and other littered items at the source.
Global Ties Detroit is excited to welcome Genevieve Nowak to the Board of Directors!
