Two Global Ties U.S. Community-Based Members—Global Ties Detroit and GlobalPittsburgh—will host a delegation of Italians this week as part of the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program focused on economic development and innovation.
Consul General Mary Ellen Countryman hosted an informal coffee for three of the four exchange participants selected for a special International Visitor Leadership Program on Economic Development and Urban Revitalization.
The participants include Alessandra Clemente, Naples Alderwoman for Youth, Simmaco Perillo, founder of Caserta-based NGO ‘Aldilà dei Sogni’ (Beyond Dreams), Andrea Bartoli, founder of Sicily’s FARM Cultural Park, and Massimo Carboni, a Sardinia regional government representative.
Thanks to a U.S. Consulate Naples initiative, the group will travel to Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, and Detroit January 17-28 to examine private and public sector strategies and partnerships that spur economic development in depressed urban areas.
The four participants were selected to take part in this exchange program for their continued effort to support the growth of their respective communities, and for fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and inclusion at all levels of society.
