Global Ties Detroit Welcomes Jeff Nelson to Board of Directors

Global Ties Detroit is pleased to announce the addition of Jeff Nelson, Executive Vice President of Strategic Staffing Solutions and President of S3 International as Global Ties Detroit’s newest board member. Nelson’s background includes more than 30 years in international affairs. He was the former founder of a democracy-promotion and exchange organization funded by USAID and the U.S. State Department. He also served at the National Endowment for Democracy.
Jeff Nelson had an interest in international relations from an early age. He studied international relations as a university student which led him to meeting leaders of the freedom movement for the Baltic states, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. These relationships with these countries influenced Jeff’s career, as they navigated their first years of independence after 50 years of Soviet occupation.
In his leadership role at Strategic Staffing Solutions, Jeff Nelson has helped global companies establish and grow near-shore centers. He has played a major role in developing the economy in Lithuania. He has created thousands of jobs for nationals so that they could remain or return to their home country. In 2015, he was appointed as one of 23 honorary consuls representing the U.S. in Lithuania.

Nelson’s expertise, education, and international impact make him a great fit for Global Ties Detroit’s Board of Directors. Jeff has been involved in supporting Global Ties Detroit’s mission and work for years. He served as a professional resource for U.S. Department of State-sponsored International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) delegations from Lithuania, Belarus and more. Nelson was the featured speaker at Global Ties Detroit’s 2021 Annual Dinner providing the private sector perspective on international relations. His addition to Global Ties Detroit’s Board will bring us closer to fulfilling our mission of developing a more peaceful and prosperous world through international exchange and citizen diplomacy.
